Mewbi permissions: Accessibility, Screen Recording and cloud search
Understand which Mewbi features need no permissions, which local features use Accessibility or Screen Recording, and when an explicit scan uploads a snapshot.
Basic companionship, holding, petting and free toys need no extra system permissions. Perception settings are optional. Local window awareness and explicit cloud searches process data separately.
Choose a feature before granting access

Where to manage permissions
- Open Mewbi Settings → Privacy.
- Review the window, interface and picture-edge options under Stays on this Mac. Enable or disable what you want.
- Use the relevant Grant… button if you choose to authorize a feature. macOS Privacy & Security is the final source for the system’s permission state.
- If macOS shows permission is granted but the app has not refreshed, save your work and follow the app’s prompt to restart the cat and check again. Basic features that do not use the permission remain available.
Panel names and restart requirements can vary across macOS versions. This website does not enable permissions for you. Deleting permission records or altering security settings should not be a way around your choice.
Local perception is separate from cloud search
Local perception checks windows and visible edges without uploading screenshots. A selected window or screen snapshot and query go to a cloud service only after you consent and explicitly start a Finder-glasses scan. Before scanning, move passwords, private messages, payment details and other sensitive content out of the selected area.
Mewbi’s proxy does not store or log screenshots, queries or answers. That is not a promise of zero retention by the provider. Account and scan counters have their own retention and usage rules. Read the full Privacy Policy and Finder glasses guide.
Typing and screen-sharing controls
Stay still while you type counts keystrokes without reading their contents. Choose full-screen hiding and screenshot/recording visibility controls in Settings. Systems and sharing tools differ, so preview with your actual tool before an important meeting. A setting description is not proof that every third-party combination has been tested.
