Set up Mewbi as a quiet desktop pet for Mac
Use Mewbi’s typing, full-screen, exploration, effects and capture-visibility controls to fit a pixel cat around the way you work.
A desktop pet should fit your rhythm. Mewbi lets you adjust companionship and movement separately, so you can keep a little cat nearby while reducing unwanted activity.
A starting point for focused work
- Open Mewbi Settings → Behavior and turn on Stay still while you type. It counts keystrokes without reading what you type.
- Set Explore on its own to Sometimes or Never. Exploration starts only after you stop typing.
- Turn on Hide in full screen if you want more room for presentations, videos and full-screen work.
- Set Effects to Light or Off. When Reduce Motion is enabled in macOS, the app turns effects off accordingly.
These are practical setting suggestions, not experimental proof of improved focus or productivity. Choose the combination that feels comfortable to you.
Before a meeting or screen share
Review Invisible in screenshots in Behavior settings. After enabling it, preview the actual output in your sharing or recording tool. Tools, system versions and window modes can differ. For an important situation, you can hide or quit the cat first and bring it back afterward.
Hide in full screen and capture visibility are separate controls. The first concerns full-screen use; the second concerns the captured or shared image. One switch alone does not establish the result in every meeting tool.
Which settings need permission?
Holding, petting and free toys need no extra system permissions. Optional window perception and interface recognition have their own permissions. Cloud search needs an explicit scan and is not required for quiet companionship. Start with fewer features and choose more when you want them.

Make room for a little play later
Yarn and balloons are available in the free app. If you want more, watch the seven extra toy animations. You do not need a purchase to adjust how quiet the cat is. Its name and local relationship memories stay on your Mac.
