Install and update Mewbi on Mac

Choose a Mewbi Mac download, install from a DMG, open it normally and update. Learn about opt-in automatic updates and keeping local data.

Install the free app without creating an account or buying the Play Pack first. The current public Mac release is 1.0.32.

First installation

  1. Visit the official download page and choose Apple silicon or Intel. If unsure, open Apple menu → About This Mac.
  2. Open the downloaded DMG, drag Mewbi into Applications and wait for copying to finish.
  3. Launch Mewbi from Applications. Follow the normal macOS first-open confirmation.
  4. Start with basic companionship. Accessibility and Screen Recording in the introduction are optional permissions; read their purposes before deciding.

Running the installed app from Applications helps keep updates and system-permission identity consistent. Avoid using the copy inside the mounted DMG as your everyday app.

If macOS says it cannot open the app

Check that the download came from this website and that your chip and macOS version match the supported systems. Download the current package again if the file is incomplete. Official Mac releases are signed and notarized. Disabling Gatekeeper, stripping quarantine attributes or turning off system protections should not be routine installation steps.

If the problem remains, contact support with the exact error and your system version. Macs can have different permission histories and security policies; a prompt-free first launch cannot be guaranteed on every computer.

Check your version and updates

Open Mewbi Settings → About and choose Check for updates. Automatic updates are off by default. If you explicitly enable them, the app can download in the background and install on its next normal launch, without forcing a restart while you work. You can still download the correct chip version manually from this website.

Update manually

  1. Quit the old Mewbi normally.
  2. Download the current DMG for the same Mac chip.
  3. Drag the new Mewbi into Applications and follow the system’s replacement prompt.
  4. Open Mewbi from Applications and check the version in Settings → About.

Upgrades are designed to preserve local settings, your account and valid licenses. Do not delete Mewbi’s application-support data to update it. The cat’s name and relationship memories stay on your Mac and are not restored from the cloud by purchase recovery. macOS manages system permissions; follow any actual permission request if one appears.

Already own the Play Pack?

You do not need to buy it again. Open Settings → General → Account & Play Pack, verify your purchase email and choose Sync purchase / restore. See the purchase recovery guide. Basic free companionship does not require sign-in.
